Amathounta Dog Shelter
The dogs listed below are currently under the care of the Municipality of Amathounta.
If you recognise your dog, please contact the Municipality of Amathounta on +357 25 864100 to arrange its collection.
The Municipality is responsible for the collection of stray dogs and makes every effort to identify and notify their owners.
If the owner is identified, they are required to cover all costs incurred for the dog's collection, accommodation, and any veterinary examination or treatment deemed necessary.
If the owner is not identified within fifteen (15) days from the date the dog was collected, the Municipality of Amathounta may proceed with the adoption process, allowing the dog to be rehomed.
Dog Ownership Licence
A valid dog ownership licence issued by the Municipality of Amathounta is required to keep a dog.
The licence is issued upon submission of an application together with the following documents:
- A health booklet or health certificate issued by a registered private veterinarian.
- A certificate of registration and permanent electronic identification (microchip) issued by the Veterinary Services Department.
The dog ownership licence must be renewed annually with the Municipality of Amathounta by presenting the animal's updated health booklet.
