Procedure for Issuing a Sound Emission Licence for Entertainment Establishments
According to the Law on Entertainment Establishments (Sound Emission Licences), any entertainment establishment wishing to emit music or other sound beyond the premises must first obtain a Sound Emission Licence from the competent authority. For establishments located within the municipal boundaries of the Municipality of Amathounta, the competent authority for issuing the licence is the Municipality.
Procedure for Issuing a Sound Emission Licence
- Notification of intention to submit an application
The applicant must notify their intention to submit an application for the issuance of a Sound Emission Licence, in accordance with the provisions of the legislation. The notification must be displayed for the required period of time in a prominent location at the establishment and at the offices of the Municipality.
- Submission of application
The application must be submitted to the Health Services Department and must be accompanied by the following supporting documents:
- Completed and signed application form.
- Copy of a valid Operating Licence and Entertainment Establishment Licence.
- Copy of the Planning Permit and Building Permit, where required.
- Copy of the notification of intention to submit an application.
- Acoustic study prepared by a qualified consultant and the relevant form, where required by legislation (sound emission after midnight).
- Any other information or documentation requested by the Municipality for the proper assessment of the application.
- Examination of the application
The relevant services of the Municipality examine the application and assess whether all legal requirements are met, as well as the requirements relating to public health protection, prevention of nuisance, and safeguarding the quality of life of residents.
- Issuance of the Licence
Provided that all legal requirements are fulfilled, the Municipality issues the Sound Emission Licence, which specifies the operating conditions, permitted sound levels, permitted hours of sound emission, and any other specific conditions deemed necessary.
Important Information:
- The emission of music or other sound without the required Sound Emission Licence is prohibited.
- Incomplete applications or applications missing the required supporting documents cannot be processed until they are fully completed.
- The Municipality carries out inspections to ensure that entertainment establishments comply with the licence conditions and permitted noise limits.
- Failure to comply with the licence conditions or the provisions of the legislation may result in administrative or other measures being taken, in accordance with the applicable legislation.
